Plane Games – privacy policy
Effective date: 1 November 2026 · App: “Plane Games... And other stuff to do in the air” (Android package uk.planegames.app) and the Plane Games website.
The short version
Plane Games does not collect, store or sell any personal data. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Your scores and saved games stay on your phone.
What is stored on your phone
Settings (music, sound, kids mode, colour-blind symbols, your nickname), best scores, saved games, the games you have downloaded and the casino's play-chip balance are kept in the app's local storage on your device only. They are never uploaded. You can delete them at any time by clearing the app's storage in Android Settings or by uninstalling the app.
Downloading games from the catalogue
Four games come built into the app. The game catalogue lets you download more (and updates) for free. The list of games
(catalogue.json) and the game files are served by Firebase Hosting, a Google Cloud service, from
plane-games-1a2b3.web.app. When the app checks the catalogue or downloads a game, Google's servers receive the normal
information any website receives: your IP address, the files requested, the time, and your device's user-agent (browser/WebView version).
Google may keep this in short-lived server logs to run and protect the service, under the
Google Privacy Policy and
Firebase privacy information. Plane Games does not use Firebase Analytics,
Crashlytics, cookies, accounts or any advertising ID, and does not see or keep these logs for tracking.
Downloaded games are checked (SHA-256) and stored on your phone, and then play with no internet at all. You can avoid all of this by not
opening the catalogue: the built-in games never contact any server.
Your nickname (no sign-in)
There are no accounts and no sign-in. On first launch the app makes up a guest name such as GUEST1234 and keeps it on your phone. You can change it in Settings (up to 16 letters or numbers; a simple filter blocks rude words - please don't use your full name). On one phone it never leaves the phone. When you play on several phones it is sent only to the other phones in that game, so they can show who is who, and it is the suggested name on a game request (you can delete it there). An optional "back up with Google" option is planned; it is switched off and nothing is sent to any sign-in service. If it is added later this policy will be updated first.
Request a game
The REQUEST A GAME button lets you suggest a game. If you send one, the app stores it in Cloud Firestore (a Google Firebase database) in the Plane Games project: the game name, your description, the nickname you typed (optional), the app version, the time it arrived and a status (for example "new" or "queued"). Nothing else is attached - no email, account, device ID or location - although, as with any internet request, Google's servers see your IP address to deliver it. Requests can only be read by the developer, are used only to decide which games to make, and are deleted when no longer needed (at most 2 years). If you are offline the request waits on your phone and is sent the next time you are online. Please don't put personal information in a request. To have a request removed, contact the developer email on the Google Play page and give the game name and roughly when you sent it.
Casino section: play money only
The casino games (blackjack, roulette, slots, Texas hold'em) use play chips only. There is no real-money gambling, nothing can be bought, and chips cannot be cashed out or exchanged for anything. A grown-up can switch on kids mode (Settings on the main menu) to hide the casino and shooting games.
Camera
The camera is only used if you choose to link two phones by scanning a QR code. The picture is read live on your phone to find the code; no photos or video are saved or sent anywhere. Android asks your permission first, and you can say no and use the text option instead.
“Play on 2 phones” with a join code
All games work offline. Apart from the game catalogue and game requests (above), the only other feature that uses the internet is the optional “join code” way of linking phones. When you use it:
- The app connects to the free, open-source PeerJS signalling service (0.peerjs.com) to introduce the two phones. That service sees your IP address and a random game code (for example
planegames-v1-ABCDE) for as long as the connection is being set up. No name, email or device ID is sent. - To find a route between the phones it may also contact Google's public STUN server (stun.l.google.com) and the PeerJS relay servers (eu-0.turn.peerjs.com / us-0.turn.peerjs.com).
- Game moves (and, in 2-player Parachute, the secret word and clue that one player sets) then go directly to the other phone over an encrypted WebRTC connection, or through the relay if a direct route is not possible.
These services are run by third parties under their own terms. Plane Games does not receive or keep any of this information. Linking with a QR code instead uses no internet servers at all.
Children
Plane Games does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children. Because the app contains simulated gambling with play money, it is rated for ages 12+ on Google Play; kids mode hides those games.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new effective date.
